OUR STORY
Meet Sandra, Kristy, and Buddy
Co-Owners of Buddy’s Backyard RV Resort and BenTree Builders
Buddy
Our Founder
Buddy was an abandoned, skinny Red Heeler puppy found on a construction site, covered in mange and fleas. Sandra Bennett and Kristy Petree brought him home, cleaned him up, gave him plenty of food and love, and he turned into the affectionate, loyal, and curious companion for whom this RV Resort is named.
Sandra Bennett
has both a BS and a Masters Degree from Northeast Louisiana University. During her college career, she worked for an interior design firm and several builders, where she discovered she was intrigued by construction and her grandfather’s engineering drawings.
Kristy Petree
has a BA in Political Science from Texas State University. Inspired by her mother – a top realtor in West Texas, and her father – a securities broker, Kristy started selling real estate after college and began building her first high-end home.
Years of friendship, knowledge, and compatible interests mean that Sandra and Kristy share a unique passion for building a park that puts the camper’s enjoyment, comfort, safety, and convenience ahead of all else.
Buddy’s Backyard
Although Buddy crossed the Rainbow Bridge before the Park could be completed, his spirit lives on in the grass, the trees, and especially the dog park.
If Buddy were here, he would say (in dog language, of course), “Enjoy your stay at Buddy’s Backyard RV Resort. I know Kristy and Sandra will take great care of you like they did me.”
Buddy’s motto always seemed to be… Life is a journey! Enjoy the Ride!
The Last RV Park in Travis County Hill Country?
When Sandra and Kristy discovered a 10-acre parcel of land near Reimers Ranch and Hamilton Pool, they knew it would be the ideal place to put their shared passions to work. They created a compelling narrative for Buddy’s Backyard RV Resort and persuaded the Travis County Commissioners to allow the project to proceed.
In fact, the Commissioners were so enthralled by the idea, that Travis County itself purchased the remaining 30 acres near the proposed park in order to stop future development, meaning that Buddy’s Backyard is not only the nearest RV Park to Hamilton Pool, it is (and will be) the ONLY RV Resort near Hamilton Pool.
